Aim & Scope

The Turkish Journal of Archaeology and Ethnography, which publishes scientific articles related to archaeology, art history, ethnography, and their sub-disciplines, primarily focusing on studies within Turkey's borders, aims to document, examine, and disseminate new findings to academic circles and the public regarding the cultural richness of all civilizations that have played a role in Turkey's history from prehistoric times to the present day, as well as values related to Turkish culture in Central Asia, the Balkans, North Africa, and the Middle East.

The journal primarily features high-quality and original articles written as a result of research conducted in all fields related to archaeology, art history, and ethnography, primarily within Turkey's borders. Its subject area is limited to Prehistoric Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Ancient Historical Geography, Anthropology, Ancient History, Epigraphy, Numismatics, Museology, Archaeometry, Conservation-Restoration and Restoration, Art History, and Ethnography studies. In relation to the aforementioned scientific disciplines, articles on new interpretations and approaches in Cultural Heritage Management and other social science fields, as well as groundbreaking studies on identification, application, and analysis, are also accepted by the journal. The journal also includes original research and review articles that contribute to scientific studies in these fields, are based on scientific criteria and research, possess a rich bibliography, and present critiques and opinions on the subject under investigation.

Our independent, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access, online journal accepts academic works written in Turkish and English. Submitted works must not have been previously published or be under review in another medium. Works deemed suitable according to the writing guidelines and the journal's scope are sent to two expert reviewers for scientific evaluation. The Editorial Board adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) criteria and conducts the evaluation process taking into account the reviewers' comments.
