4. The journal does not accept book reviews, translations, or articles that are merely technical evaluations and serve as reports. Articles with fewer than 4,000 words or more than 10,000 words (excluding references, tables, and figures) will not be considered for review.

5. The submission, evaluation, and publication processes of articles submitted to the journal are managed through the DergiPark system provided by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/arkeolojiveetnografya).

6. The journal is committed to adhering to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

8. The journal follows an Open Access policy and is licensed under the Creative Commons 4.0 International License. All published articles are freely accessible.

9. The legal and scientific responsibility for the content of articles lies with the author(s). By filling out the "Declaration of Ethical Principles and Responsibility Form," the author(s) confirm that the article has been prepared in accordance with ethical principles and that they accept responsibility for any legal proceedings related to the article's content.

10. All authors submitting articles to the journal have equal rights. No privileges are granted during the evaluation, acceptance, or publication processes based on the author or the work. The order of publication for accepted articles is determined by the date of acceptance.

11. No fees are charged to authors for the evaluation, acceptance, or publication of articles submitted to the journal.

Author information should be submitted separately using the "Cover Page." If the work is supported by an institution or funding, the name of the supporting organization and the project number must be mentioned. Information about the master's or doctoral thesis from which the article is derived and acknowledgments should also be included in the cover form.

14. Since 2020, the TR Index Journal Evaluation criteria have been updated, specifically detailing the requirements for ethical committee approval in scientific research. Researchers whose studies require ethical approval must upload the relevant document. Authors whose studies do not require ethical approval must submit the "Declaration Form Stating No Need for Ethical Committee Approval." Articles that lack ethical committee approval documentation or fail to provide information on ethical approval within the manuscript will not be considered.

 Article Quality

1. The *Turkish Journal of Archaeology and Ethnography* prioritizes high-quality and original articles based on research conducted in archaeology, art history, ethnography, and related fields, especially within Türkiye’s borders. Subject areas include Prehistoric Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Historical Geography of Antiquity, Anthropology, Ancient History, Epigraphy, Numismatics, Museology, Archaeometry, Conservation-Restoration, Art History, and Ethnography. Additionally, articles offering new interpretations, applications, and analyses in Cultural Heritage Management and related social sciences are accepted.

The journal includes original research and review articles that contribute to the field, are based on scientific criteria and research, have a rich bibliography, and offer critiques and perspectives on the subject matter.

2. Submitted articles must not have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

3. Authors are required to prepare and submit their articles according to the writing guidelines published on the journal’s website. Articles that do not comply with these guidelines will be rejected without entering the evaluation phase.

 Evaluation Process

1. Before being assigned to reviewers, submitted articles are evaluated by an editor assigned based on the subject of the submission. The editor assesses the article's:

   - Relevance to the journal’s scope,

   - Compliance with publishing principles and ethics,

   - Scientific quality and originality,

   - Formal and general content adequacy.

2. The editor may seek feedback from the Editorial Board during the preliminary review. The editor is responsible for the initial review, selecting peer reviewers, and making publication decisions based on peer evaluations.

3. Articles that pass the preliminary review are assigned to relevant reviewers. Articles deemed unsuitable are rejected, and the author is informed by the editor.

4. During the peer review process, reviewers evaluate the full manuscript, which should not contain any identifying information about the author(s).

5. Each reviewer completes a *Peer Review Evaluation Form* and assesses the manuscript according to the evaluation criteria, providing a decision (reject, accept, revise, major revisions) within the specified timeframe.

6. A double-blind peer review system is applied. Two experts in the field are assigned as reviewers. Reviewers evaluate the suitability of the article for publication and make suggestions for revisions. Reviewers may choose to accept the article without revisions, accept it with minor revisions, request major revisions and resubmission, or reject the article. If revisions are required, the author must revise the manuscript according to the recommendations. For minor revisions, reviewers may choose whether to review the revised manuscript again or leave the final decision to the editors. For major revisions, the article is reevaluated by the reviewers after the author’s revisions. Authors must upload their responses to reviewer comments using the *Response to Reviewers Form* on DergiPark. If the revisions are deemed satisfactory by the reviewers and Editorial Board, the article is accepted. Articles receiving negative feedback from reviewers are not published. Based on the reviewers' reports, the Editorial Board may decide to reject the article or send it to additional reviewers.

7. If a “revision” decision is made, the author must submit the revised manuscript within the specified time. Failure to submit the revisions on time may result in the rejection of the article by the editor.

8. Authors are expected to consider the critiques, suggestions, and revisions provided by the reviewers and the Editorial Board. If they disagree with any comments, they have the right to provide their justification.

9. Authors have the right to withdraw their article. Authors wishing to withdraw an article must submit a request using the *Article Withdrawal Form*.

10. The similarity index of submitted articles is evaluated during the submission process through DergiPark. Articles with a similarity rate of 15% or more, excluding citations and references, are not considered and will be returned to the author. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted, and an Editor’s Note will be published in the journal to notify readers.
